Chambre Charles Lloyd

C'est en souvenir du premier artiste international à être signé par Claude Nobs que l'Eurotel a l'honneur de vous annoncer la création de la chambre "Charles Lloyd", en collaboration avec les Archives Hôtelières Suisse et la Fondation Montreux Jazz 2. Véritable musée, la chambre 118 est l'occasion unique pour ses hôtes de se plonger dans l'atmosphère des première heures du Montreux Jazz Festival de 1967.

En juin 1967, Montreux inaugurait l'Eurotel. Élevé au bord du lac, ce gratte-ciel moderne de 60 mètres complète l'infrastructure hôtelière locale. Sa conception architecturale en forme de triangle permet à toutes les chambres de jouir du manifique panorama.

Par un heureux coucours de circonstances, l'Eurotel de Montreux a conservé une chambre authentique dans son état d'origine. Aujourd'hui, elle offre à ses hôtes une véritable bulle où le temps s'est arrêté en 1967.

Une installation de lits jumeaux escamotables dans une paroi murale garnie de simili cuir rouge permet de libérer l'espace d'un sol en moquette de feutre couleur bleu Lichtenstein. Des chaises et des fauteuils inspirés du design scandinave en vogue à l'époque se groupent sous la fenêtre et de chaque côté d'une table rabattable au plateau plaqué de formica noir.

Pour complèter en son et en images l'expérience Charles Lloyd, la chambre 118 est équipée d'une chaîne stéreo et une anthologie de CDs de célèbre jazzman américain. Des photos de Charles Lloyd prises en 1967 lors de sa performance au Festival ornent les murs.

Charles Lloyd room

In memory of the first international artist to sign a contract with Claude Nobs, Eurotel has the honour to annonce the creation of the Charles Lloyd room, in collaboration with the Swiss Hotel Archives and the Montreux Jazz Foundation 2. A vertitable museum, room 118 offers its gests a unique opportinity to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the first hours of the 1967 Montreux Jazz Festival, In June 1967, Eurotel was inaugurated in Montreux. The 60-meter-high skyscraper was a modern addition to the local hotel infrastructures. Build by the lakeside, Eurotel's triangular architectural design meant that all the rooms in the 16-storey building overlooked the magnificient panorama.

Curiously, one of the rooms in the establishement was never updated, Today it offers guests a veritable 1967 time warp.

A twin bed installation folds away into a wall parition upholstered with red imitation leather, creating space on a floor that is covered by a blue flet Lichtenstein carpet. Chairs and armchairs, inspired by the Scandinavian design then in vogue, are grouped under a window and on either side of a back formica-tropped dropleaf table. Sounds and visuals complete the Charles Lloyd experience.

Room 118 is equiped with a stereo system and an anthology of works by the famous American Jazz musician. A collection of photos taken during Charles Lloyd's performance at the Festival in 1967 decorate the walls.
